Luke 2:40 “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.”
I want to give some basic information on two well-known assessments, The Stanford Achievement Test and the Iowa Tests are both nationally normed tests that can be purchased from Bob Jones University Press. Both assessments have standards for administering the tests and you can apply for approval online.
As a homeschooler, it was easier for me to receive approval for the Iowa test than the Stanford. Although neither test will allow for you to administer it your child alone, the Iowa allows for you to administer it to your child if there is a group of children taking the same test. A list of local testers in your area can also be found on the BJU Press website.
The Stanford test seems to be more popular, but the Iowa test is easier to understand, and it is easier to apply the testing scores. After administering both assessments, I found they were equal in assessing a typical child’s educational growth. I also found that it was difficult to measure the child’s growth from year to year if I switched from on test to the other. Therefore, it is best to choose one assessment and stay with that one until it is no longer working for you. fff
